About Pae O Te Rangi
Pae O Te Rangi (the footstool of Rangi) is one of the ARC Regional Parks in the Waitakere Ranges. This lovely little farm park is on Te Henga Rd, Bethells.
However, now for the bad news. The ARC have completely lost their marbles and made this pretty little farm park very uninviting by locking the main gate. If you want to ride here not only to do you have to apply for a $50 permit, but you have to pay an outrageous $250 bond for a key.
Park Hours:
Opens: 7:30 am
Closes: 7pm (winter), 9pm (summer)
Trails and Terrain
Set in the Waitakere foothills near Bethells beach, Pae o Te Rangi is gentle rolling farmland. There are farm tracks running through the park which range from plain clay to rotten rock (big metal usually used for railway track base).
Access and Parking
Access to Pae O Te Rangi is from Te Henga Rd, near the intersection with Bethells Rd. The park is well signposted at the entrance. The road to this park is sealed all the way.
Parking is very limited. You could just fit two small horse trucks or two floats into the parking area. However, you would need to either reverse in or reverse out (onto the road) as there is definitely no room to turnaround!
